Andrew Phillip Moritz

With peace in his heart and love in the room, our beloved Andrew took his last breath tonight. He was surrounded by his family and a few close friends. It was peaceful and so beautiful.

It was our privilege to know Andrew and call him our friend. We always knew Andrew as someone who embraced life and every challenge along the way. We’ll miss his “have some fun” attitude, inspirational outlook, courageous behavior and rare gift of always bringing a smile to our faces. (Darin & Christine McCandless)

I saw Andrew last year at a superbowl party after not seeing him since high school. I knew what he was dealing with and I was so impressed by his attitude and his resilience and the fact that he cared more about asking me what I was up to than talking about his illness. I was inspired. Thinking about the Moritz family during this time.

Be proud, be very very proud of your family. Cancer is a hard, yet amazing process for many families to go though. At the end, you can look back and realize how couragously your family, as well as andrew took on the battle.

thank you for allowing us into the process through the blog. I'm sorry it has ended, but happy to hear everyone was there to support him in his last moments.

Your family support and love kept andrew going for a long time. Now its time to support each other.

Rest in Peace Andrew.

I am so touched by the love of this family..to read about the love shared between you all has been touching beyond your knowing. I give thanks for the brief time I knew Andrew. Though brief, his impact was far greater than most will ever know. Andrew was such a bright light, far reaching, and still shining. Do not carve on stone or wood,
"He was honest" or "He was good."
Write in smoke on a passing breeze
Seven words… and the words are these,
Telling all that a volume could,
"He lived, he laughed and… he understood."

Andrew will be missed by many, and forgotten by none. I was fortunate enough to know him as a teenager and be his teammate. He was one of the most positive people I've ever met. He was also one of the funniest. He knew when to be be serious and lead from the front, but he never left out time to have fun. I haven't spent as much time with him over the last few years as I would have liked, but I will always think of him as a friend and I will miss him very much for the rest of my life. My condolences to the Moritz family. If I can help in any way, please don't hesitate to ask.

Andrew isnt gone really. He will live in all of us that knew him, loved him, hung with him, ran into him. He on of those special people. We've all known someone like that, and this happens. Even so, he changes us all. For the better. God bless him and Gods stength and support to his sisters, Mom, Dad, and family.

I just saw his story on King5 and it brought me to tears and I never even knew him. I am sorry for all of us in losing a great spirited person. we don't have to know a person but know them in humanity. We feel the loss in our hearts as a rift in the world. But, we will all someday be together and hug as brothers and sisters unite. God will fill your sorrow with Love in that place if you allow him.

It hurts when one of our own goes to be with God. Andrew was a warrior! May he rest with the most high and may his family have peace as he rests with the most high.

Rest in peace; from one brother to another.

Andrew you will be truly missed, you are at peace now watching down on all of us.

Peace, my heart, let the time for the parting be sweet.
Let it not be a death but completeness.
Let love melt into memory and pain into songs.
Let the flight through the sky end in the folding of the wings over the nest.
Let the last touch of your hands be gentle like the flower of the night.
Stand still, O Beautiful End, for a moment, and say your last words in silence.
I bow to you and hold up my lamp to light you on your way.

My heart goes out to the entire Moritz family and their friends.

I had the pleasure of working with Andrew during his brief time in St. Louis. To me, Andrew was an idol and a person that was truly larger than life. I’ve never met anybody that had as much compassion, intelligence, and confidence as Andrew. I still remember our one-on-one coaching sessions together and he had the ability to make you feel that you could do anything in the world. He’s someone that I’ll never forget and will forever be inspired by.

Rest in peace Andrew,

Zack

We were so saddened to hear about Andrew’s passing. It’s only God who can give the strength and courage to go through this kind of trial. This isn’t the end of the story and we don’t know the end of the story or how many people are being touched by it. The impact of Andrew is touching each of the members of your family and many others—-more than we will ever know. Do we understand? Can we explain this untimely parting? No. But the Lord declares, “My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways… My ways are higher …and My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-11). Our love and prayers are with you, Marilynn, and with your beautiful daughters.
